Community Care Network names Mitchell new Director of Information Systems

Rutland, Vt. – Community Care Network (CCN) is pleased to announce that it has promoted current CCN employee Rob Mitchell to the new position of Director of Information Systems. In this role, Mitchell will be responsible for all CCN systems supporting data analytics, quality and outcomes measurement, analysis and reporting, electronic medical record workflows and training, and information exchange for care coordination and provider collaboration.

“I’m excited to take this next step at CCN and help to develop the systems we’ll need to keep improving services to the Rutland area,” said Mitchell. “I love the mission of CCN and the work we do, and I am looking forward to continuing my role in support of the staff doing great things in our community.”

Mitchell, who joined CCN in 2021, has most recently served the organization as its Manager of Quality Improvement and Data Analytics. Prior to arriving at CCN, Mitchell worked for the Rutland Herald for 12 years in various roles including special projects manager, editor, web manager and general manager, in addition to doing freelance website work.

A graduate of Amherst College, Mitchell has also completed computer coding program training at Burlington Code Academy and is currently pursuing a Master of Data Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.  As part of his master’s degree work, Mitchell recently participated in a National Science Foundation research trip to Rwanda to carry out field work related to disaster resilience in displaced populations, while continuing to work remotely for CCN.

Additionally, Mitchell has held a variety of community service roles in the Rutland area including coaching youth sports, serving on the board of the former Rutland Economic Development Corporation, contributing to several committees involved with local COVID-19 pandemic response, and delivering groceries to seniors and other vulnerable individuals through Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging’s volunteer program.

“The health care system has evolved such that having the right data, at the right time and for the right purpose is essential for quality care,” said Dick Courcelle, Chief Executive Officer with Community Care Network. “In this new position, Rob will lead CCN-Rutland Mental Health Services in the effective use of information systems and data analytics, including anticipating and planning for future needs and capacity. Rob’s training in data science and his familiarity with our system of care from his work here as a quality manager will create a competitive advantage for us within a changing health care information environment.”
