Rocking Horse Circle of Support – New Group Beginning!

Rocking Horse Circle of Support

The Rocking Horse Circle of Support aims to address the devastating consequences of drinking for pregnancy, and the equally destructive effects of parental substance use for early childhood.  The focus of the program is prevention, and early intervention.  This program educates and supports changes in attitudes and behavior to promote a healthy pregnancy, and strengthen families.

What is the purpose of the program?

The purpose of the program is to help pregnant and parenting women reduce the risks of substance use in their lives, and promote life and parenting skills.

Who is eligible?

This program is designed for both women with young children and pregnant women between the ages of 18 and 35 who are substance users OR whose lives are affected by the substance use of a spouse, significant other, or family member.

What is the program structure?

The program is co-facilitated by a substance use specialist and a maternal child specialist offering community-based education, support, and group intervention.  The Rocking Horse Circle of Support meets for 10 weeks for 2 hours each week.  The curriculum offers education about substance use, parenting, and coping skills in a supportive environment.

Outcome Measures

Increase knowledge of the harmful effects of substance use for individual and family health, reduce substance use behavior and increase personal efficacy and parenting abilities.

Thank you, we look forward to seeing you!
