Rutland Climb for Perinatal Mental Health to Take Place on June 29 at Pittsford Recreation Area

Rutland, Vermont — Postpartum Support International (PSI), and local providers Community Care Network, Vermont Department of Health, Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum, Rutland County Head Start and Rutland County Parent Child Center, are teaming up to host the annual Rutland Climb for Perinatal Mental Health on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pittsford Recreation Area in Pittsford. This event aims to raise awareness and funds to support the mental health of new families and survivors of perinatal mental health struggles.

Parenthood is a journey filled with joys and challenges, but for some, the transition to parenthood can be overwhelming, leading to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. In Vermont, these disorders affect 1 in 4 parents, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and support.

“No parent should face perinatal mental health challenges alone,” said Lauren Norford, Rutland Climb coordinator and Early Childhood Services Manager with Community Care Network. “By coming together at events like the Rutland Climb, we can break the stigma, raise awareness, and provide much-needed support to families in need.”

The Rutland Climb welcomes everyone affected by perinatal mental health concerns, including parents, partners, foster, kin, and adoptive caregivers. It provides a supportive space for sharing experiences, accessing resources, and fostering connections within the community.

Attendees can participate in various activities for both kids and parents, access valuable resources, have the chance to win door prizes and participate in a free raffle, and walk together in support of Perinatal Mental Health on the shady Pittsford Recreation Area trails.

To register for the event, individuals can visit the registration page linked here, or visit give.postpartum.net/team/573368.  For more information and updates, please visit the Climb Rutland VT Facebook page.
