CLIMB Team Rutland to host Annual Walk in Support of Families Facing Postpartum Mental Health Challenges

Rutland, VT – CLIMB Team Rutland today announced that it will be hosting its annual Climb event on October 3 aimed at raising awareness and funds for perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, including postpartum depression and anxiety.

“We are proud to join The Climb again this year, a worldwide movement organized by Postpartum Support International (PSI) that symbolizes the journey from darkness into light – offering hope, connection and recovery for families,” said Lauren Norford, CLIMB Team Rutland coordinator and Manager of Early Childhood Services with Community Care Network.

The Rutland event will take place on Friday, October 3, from 4:00–5:30 p.m. at Pine Hill Park, Oak Street Extension, Rutland, VT. Families, supporters, and community members are invited to walk together, connect with local resources, and shine a light on maternal mental health.

“Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth, yet too often they go unspoken,” said Norford. “By walking together, we’re raising awareness, offering hope, and showing families that they are not alone.”

Who should attend:

  • Families: New and expectant parents who may be experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs); parents adjusting to adding a new member to their family. Parents of any age who experienced perinatal mood challenges or difficult adjustment or loss associated with family building.
  • Supporters: Friends, family members, and neighbors who want to offer encouragement.
  • Mental health advocates: Anyone dedicated to breaking the stigma around perinatal mental health.

Event highlights:

  • A community walk at Pine Hill Park, symbolizing recovery and hope.
  • Opportunities to connect with local support services and providers.
  • A free “gossamer swag bag” for the first 15 attendees who register on the event page.
